Gallatin Stream Teams is a volunteer stream monitoring program operated in partnership between the Gallatin Watershed Council and the Gallatin Local Water Quality District. Since 2008, citizen scientists have been testing water quality on local streams. This high-quality data is being used by Gallatin Watershed Council, the Gallatin Local Water Quality District, the Department of Environmental Quality, the City of Bozeman, and others to assess the health of the watershed.
Volunteers
Olivia moved to Bozeman in January 2020 to serve as a Big Sky Watershed Corps member. She quickly fell in love with this community and with the Gallatin, and joining Stream Teams was a perfect way to blend those two passions together. When not standing in a stream, she can be found wandering trails with her hound dog, Twyla.
Alzada Roche is a graduate student in the ecology department at MSU. She got involved with the stream team before going back to school, and has enjoyed learning about water quality and meeting other stewards through this lovely service opportunity.
Kadie Heinle is a graduate student in fisheries biology at Montana State University. She volunteered with the GWC Stream Team's to get more involved in the community and for an excuse to spend more time in/around water.
